Frequently Asked Questions
-
A full spectrum doula is a trained, non-medical support person who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to help mothers navigate through pregnancy and birth with greater confidence and less anxiety
-
At Fruit of the Womb I walk alongside you during pregnancy to answer any questions you have, provide resources, and talk about a birth plan and so much more. During labor I may use different soothing techniques such as massage, breath-work, position changes, water therapy and encouragement. I also help communicate your wishes to the staff to make sure you feel heard throughout the process. Postpartum services are available which include birth processing, baby feeding advice, mental health check-ins and light housework.
-
Of course! Most hospitals welcome and even encourage the use of a doula during delivery especially since studies show that the support, presence and techniques of a doula improve birth outcomes.
In fact we offer services in hospitals, birth centers and home birth environments.

Doulas can be especially valuable in high-risk oor surgical births. They help you understand your options, advocate for your preferences, and provide calm, consistent support in what can be an anxious experience. Always confirm hospital or birth center policies on doula access.
